The vision of „AGRO-ecoE“ is to boost employment and improve the energy and food supply in Tivigne Diassa, a Senegalese village. In order to reach this challenge, the implementation of a cost-covering livestock farming, an own cultivation of renewable resources and a biogas plant is scheduled within the framework of this research project.
The cooperation between the RWTH Aachen University, the University of Dakar, the community of Tivigne Diassa and the German NGO Support Projects will realize the adaptability and adjustment of technical innovations and the embedding of these technology processes within the social, cultural and economical conditions of Tivigne Diassa.
User friendliness, social acceptance, steadiness, access to spare parts and maintenance as well as cost-coverage are at the forefront of the cooperation.
Within the first stage of the project an interdisciplinary cooperative network among the applicants and their partners was established.
On the basis of interviews, questionnaires, meetings and workshops with the local community, the ecological and socioeconomic conditions on site were determined. Furthermore through expert meetings and exploratory talks with Senegalese scientists and the political and administrative representations of the village concrete strategies for implementing AGRO-ecoE are being developed.
Thematic- and scenario workshops at the RWTH Aachen University and the University of Dakar are scheduled to promote the scientific exchange and improve the interdisciplinary cooperation. The outstanding result of the exploratory measure was the manifested acceptability of the community for AGRO-ecoE.
